Quezon City is Already in Capable Hands
by BARRIO SIETE
I usually don’t write articles that deal with politics since it’s really not my field. I blog about technology and video games, but when I learned about a certain Paul Farol spreading lies about a survey for Quezon City’s mayoralty race, I think it’s about time to say my piece. And besides, this Paul Farol issued a threat on his blog which goes like this;
“We’ve already talked to a couple of friends and colleagues about it who have promised to help track down each and every person involved with Barrio Siete.“
I contribute to Barrio Siete, so base on your threat Mr. Farol, you’ll track me down too? You sound like Tim Cumper. REALLY. I’m serious. CREEPY. It’s Good Friday. Time to clean up your soul Mr. Paul Farol and drench it with muriatic acid. Ok. Lysol na lang.
Paul Farol’s message to Reyna Elena even included this in his entry:
“I wonder if he’ll come home to the Philippines anytime soon. I hope he does so I can give him a warm welcome.”
Why would you threaten people? Aren’t you learning something from what you started Paul Farol? What if some people starts threatening you too? Any lessons learned from your demolition job to Reyna Elena and Barrio Siete? How it bounced back on you? I won’t be surprise if your threat bounces back again to you.
For the record, I don’t know who this Paul Farol is until he started issuing this threat. Heck, I don’t even know what issues he has with Reyna Elena until now. I asked around my blogger friends regarding who this guy is and surprise, surprise! He’s a Richard Gordon supporter!
FYI, I support Bayani Fernando (Quick! Get your Twibbons here) and is currently thinking between Gibo or Dick Gordon (but I’m about 99% sure it’s Gordon). Mr. Farol, you and your acts are such a disgrace to all Dick Gordon supporters. Seriously.
Anyway, about his lies. He recently blogged about a survey in Quezon City’s mayoralty post with Mike Defensor winning. Well here’s a fact: there has been no survey conducted in Quezon City for the past 2 months.
“We have never conducted a survey in Quezon City. We did not conduct a survey in that particular period, not in this election. Definitely, we deny having done that survey being quoted in the newspaper report,” Pulse Asia President Ronald Holmes in a phone interview. (Source: Pulse Asia denies survey for Quezon City mayor, vice bets)
As far as I know (and my sources at our Barangay), there has only been one survey conducted by SWS around January and Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista is leading with 75% over close rival Annie Rosa Susano who has 9%. Mike Defensor has only 6%, former Mayor Ismael Mathay with 5%, Antonio Inton with 3% and a poor Mr. Johnny Chang (who happens to be Rocky’s neighbor LOL) that didn’t even get a 1%.
Let me show this clearly:
- Herbert Bautista 75%
- Annie Rosa Susano 9%
- Mike Defensor 6%
- Ismael Mathay 5%
- Antonio Inton 3%
Herbert Bautista’s running mate, Joy Belmonte, also leads the survey with 60%, Janet Malaya with 19% and Aiko Melendez with 17%. Inton has already withdrawn from the race FYI.
But surveys aside, I firmly believe that Quezon City is already in capable hands. Nothing much has change in Quezon City from 1986 to 2001. Mayor Jun Simon was mayor from 1986-1992 and Mayor Mel Mathay from 1992-2001. That’s 15 years and 2 mayors. But when Mayor Sonny Belmonte and Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista were elected 9 years ago, a lot has changed.
In just 3 years, you won’t even recognize most parts of Quezon City. 3 YEARS. THREE YEARS. For 6 more years, the tandem of Mayor Belmonte and Vice Mayor Bautista, popularly known as SB Team, transformed Quezon City as the most business friendly and richest city in the country. SB Team revitalized Quezon City and not even Mayor Jejomar Binay’s 24 year rule on Makati comes close.
SB Team may not be perfect, but in just 9 years, we’ve seen change. Mr. Farol, have you ever paid your taxes in Quezon City hall? I mean, did you pay it by yourself? If yes, I guess you already know how everything changed since SB Team replaced Mayor Mel Mathay. Everything computerized, comfortable seats, and free coffee & Wi-Fi FTW!
I don’t doubt Mike Defensor’s capability, fact is, I even voted and campaigned for him last elections. We even tried to feature him on our website GameOPS (since he plays video games) to at least help him in his campaign. But my point is Mr. Farol, would you risk changing leaders this time? Everything right now is OK in Quezon City. Just look what happened to our country when Erap was elected, almost everything was fine with FVR then Erap came along.
Mr. Farol, did you also know that Mike Defensor once said in an interview;
“[Now] if you could find a single project he (Bautista) did, I will withdraw my candidacy,”
Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista has Sports Programs for the Youth (Annual Batang QC Olympics, Special Olympics for Differently-abled Children), Handog sa Barangay Programs (Health Care Services; Anti-Rabies Vaccinations; Free Wheelchairs, canes, and cutches; Fumigations; Livelihood programs; etc.), Environmental programs; Anti-Drug campaigns; and a lot more.
Herbert Bautista has served Quezon City as a councilor from 1992-1995 and Vice Mayor from 1995-1998 and from 2001-2010. I find it impossible that for 15 years, he has done nothing. He was even the National Youth Commission chair around 1999 if I recall correctly. Mayor Belmonte wouldn’t endorse his Vice Mayor if he didn’t trust him. Right? As for those corruption charges, WHY ONLY NOW?
Each city has its own set of distinct problems and I believe SB Team has already done what they can on Quezon City. I want it to stay that way. It’s now up to the national government and each and everyone of us to solve the other problems.
One person can’t do it alone, so I suggest you start with yourself Mr. Farol. Repent! Say 5 Hail Reyna Elena! Peel your monkey suit and get a decent job! Kaya let’s all be good citizens and follow our laws. At tigil tigilan mo ang pagbabanta sa akin, dahil hindi kita kilala at wala akong paki sa iyo. Sige ka, lagot ka kay Bayani Fernando pag hindi ka tumigil.
Now, before anyone of you ask, I’m not a paid hack of Bautista and Belmonte. I am a legal, law-abiding, tax-paying Quezon City wage-earning resident who never bullied anybody (pwera si Mark) that cannot be deported anywhere. Subukan mo lang na ipa-deport ako! I’ve lived my entire life here; I’ve seen the city’s up and down, and frankly, I have every right to say what I feel is right and for the betterment of this city. I believe that Quezon City is already in very capable hands under Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.
amen!!!
