Gabriela is not for Defensor, says Maza
GABRIELA partylist representative Liza Maza, an advocate of the welfare of Filipina women, strongly denied the alleged support of the women’s group to Quezon City mayoralty candidate Mike Defensor.
Their partylist do not support any candidate in Quezon City especially Defensor who is known to be 'close' to President Macapagal- Arroyo.“No, we are not supporting Mike Defensor in his mayoralty bid in QC. Our chapter there s n d process of talking to candidates re d women's agenda. After that process dun kami magdedecide cno ang susuportahan”, Maza said in a text message, who is running for senator.
Maza says that she feels bad because Gabriela is being used by Mike to gain popularity in the area.
The group is also planning what will be thier next move regarding this issue.
Defensor was involved in various controversies like the detention of Pinoy nurses in the United States in 2006, also known as the “Sentosa 27”, which was exposed by Sen. Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel; the “Padi's Point scandal” in 2001; and the multi-billion peso ZTE-NBN deal.
Last month, Defensor's camp also distributed a fake poll survey result in favor of him, which was immediately denied by survey firms SWS and Pulse Asia.
